The son of a steel guitarist, Jim Loessberg started playing drums in his Dad's band when he was just 14 years old. When he was 17 he caught the steel guitar bug and immersed himself in the instrument. Before long, he was touring the country as a sideman and pestering big name players players for their licks. It's no accident that you can hear Emmons, Day and Myrick in Jim's playing - he learned from the greats.
Jim plays pedal steel in the classic Texas tradition. Indeed, he is part of that tradition, having backed up such stars as Johnny Bush, Rick Trevino, Bobby Flores, Curtis Potter and Ray Price. This is the experience that you hear in his E9th and C6th courses for pedal steel.
And there's another side to Jim Loessberg. Somewhere along the way, he heard Charlie Parker and got hooked on jazz. He started going to jam sessions, playing Real Book standards with real jazz players. Jim got to thinking that maybe other players could learn from his approach to those tunes. He tabbed out about three dozen of them for C6th and made a talk tape for each one.
Jim's extensive knowledge of both country and jazz are evident in his products. We're proud to feature him in the Steel Guitar Forum Store.
